The challenge
Figma is the world's leading business software application for product design. Config is Figma's annual customer conference, a large-scale hybrid event serving both in-person and online attendees. Hosting a global customer conference reaching hundreds of thousands of users is no easy feat, and the bar is even higher when your customers are product designers and developers.
To provide the best possible experience for its audience, Figma required an event platform that provides a world class user experience, flawless accessibility, localization, and complete control without being locked into templates or themes. Figma needed a complete solution, including full-service registration, an attendee hub, badging and check-in for in-person attendees, and live streaming for a global online audience.
The solution
Figma partnered with BigMarker to bring their ambitious vision to life. The goal was to deliver a premium, customized event that resonated with Figma’s brand vision while providing exceptional user experiences, both onsite and online. Every aspect of Config needed to align with the strictest standards of usability and accessibility, producing an event technology platform that's not only beautiful, but fast, functional, and inclusive of all members of Figma's large, global community.
Working closely with Figma's design, production and brand teams, BigMarker forged a partnership to make every touchpoint a delightful experience, including custom digital event interface design, beautifully branded badges, seamless registration and onsite check-in, and rock-solid streaming with global language accessibility, closed captioning, and live American Sign Language (ASL) translation.
The BigMarker and Figma teams worked hand-in-hand to create custom interfaces that included bespoke pages powering sophisticated multi-step registration journeys, a dynamic agenda, session and speaker details, and multiple streaming stages. Each page thoughtfully encapsulated the spirit of the Config event while optimizing engagement with an intuitive navigation flow.
Figma’s attractive, custom event badges echoed their online event design and were printed on premium materials on-demand during the live event. The badges were an important first impression for in-person ticket holders, and needed to align with the highest quality standards to maximize attendee satisfaction.
Seamless event check-in and badge printing were critical success factors that required careful attention to detail. Over 30 check-in kiosks and printer stations and a well-trained team of check-in staff, successfully checked in over 15,000 in-person attendees on the day before, and in the hours leading up to the opening keynote. A touchless check-in process was critical to moving the line quickly. Attendees scanned QR codes from confirmation emails to quickly print personalized badges.
In addition to the in-person attendees, hundreds of thousands of online attendees from around the world tuned into keynotes, panel discussions, and fireside chats using Config's bespoke virtual venue. Streamed in over 10 languages, including a live American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, the focus on accessibility was applauded by attendees around the world. With hundreds of thousands of viewers tuning in, Figma needed a partner who could deliver a high-quality, rock-solid stream quality, while maintaining high attendee engagement with an active chat on each stage.
Results delivered
As a result, Figma successfully achieved its most successful Config event to-date, delivering a world-class digital event and live streaming experience to a global audience.
